Well I spoke to the guys at the ferry and they tell me the wind has blown up a pile of slush ice on the ramp. A couple of us are going to try it satuday morning and if we cant get in there we will trailer down to the launch in Bath. We will be bringing the shovel, ice spud and salt. Sorry not salt, enviromentaly friendly traction substance.

Good luck, Dan! Be sure to let us know how you make out, eh?

Dang - the forecast really looks cold for the coming week. In Dr. Piton parlance, we may well be buggered for further open-water fishing, though miracles can and do occur. From time to time being buggered can be a good thing, depending on your hottie of choice, however this is not one of those times.

Dan

Not familiar with the Bath Ramp. Could you please give a few details on where it is, and how to get to it.

Thanks.

Leave 401 at exit 593 at County Road 4,
Travel south to Village of Millhaven, Turn
right and continue West approx 4-5 km to Bath,
Continue west through Bath. Boat ramp is
on the left as soon as you are out of village
of Bath, When you see lake ontario again.

Good Luck,
I'm only thinking of ice fishing now,

well somtimes the best laid plans...We headed out this morning with every intention of launching the boat for one last go before the water turns hard. The launch at Glenora is done. Lots of ice on it. The bay is frozen west of the ferry, also for a short distance east of the ferry. Beyond that it is wide open. We then headed to the bath launch, which we found, has no ice and one could launch without a problem. The wind was blowing 40plus with gusts over 50 southerly. The other boat with us did not want to venture out as we would have to drive past the gap at the stacks to get back near the ferry. The waves at the gap were pretty big. SO the short of it is we didnt launch. SUnday forecast is looking good but unfortunately the kids have a xmas party and i would be risking considerable martial disharmony to skip it and go fishing. Oh well time to get out the auger and sharpen the blades. What happened to global warming???

we just got home from a week up there, last night.

Bath is the only launch open, but its shallow.

Adolphus, McFarlanes, Ferry, all frozen and will not open again this year.

Just to keep everyone updated, The ice in Belleville doesn't look too good. The really cold weather we had made some ice but the warm weather over past 2 days looks loke it hurt the ice that was made. Lots of water on the ice around the belleville area and it doesn't look very safe :( ) was hoping to get out over christmas ( maybe a few small bays will have enough ice) but I think I will wait till it is a little more safe near Myers pier. A lot of the smaller lakes north of 7 have enough ice to get on. Lets hope that we get -20 for the next 5 days(ice making weather) so we can get out soon. I'm going nuts and will be divorced soon if I don't get out of the house LOL. Good luck everyone.

Holy frig!

The forecast for Oakville on Friday and Saturday is 10 and 11 degrees C and rain! I see it is 7 or 8 degrees for Picton - you can get the weather link on page 1 of this post.

Do you guys suppose the water might open up for fishing??? Our boat is still sitting in Picton and we have to go pick it up at some time!

Cheers,

Pete

And like, hope y'all had a merry Christmas, eh?

water might open...but ramps wont.

if you have a car-topper aluminum, its possible.

if your launching, i'd say your going to have a tough time....

Howz about it? Did the water open up with this super-mild weather?? Did anyone get a boat in?
