That is indeed a fantastic catch, so congrats!! Just my two cents, but thinking I would've taken a little more time and care on the release...would never drop a big girl like that just over the side...hopefully, it swam away fine.

Just to set the record...the fish was caught of Wolfe island and was out of the water for less than 1 minute (probably 30 seconds) and yes it did swim away . However with catch and release you never really know. I worked the spot over for an hour and a half and did not see any trace of the fish but did find another fish floating (8lb) that was probably a victim of catch and release. They still stand a better chance in the water than the frying pan......

let me just say this about jim.... ti have known him since he was a kid and have dragged him all over ontario chasing bows and other fish before he was old enough to drive.. he was taught to fish and release fish from his early teens... i fish quinte with him quite often and trust me when i say he will not waste a fish with a bad release... he is a very competent and sucessful fisherman..(taught him all he knows lol).. lets all just enjoy his great catch and get our backsides out on the pond and look for more ...

A truly great fish and it's great that you released her so she has the opportunity to produce more like her.

Nice fish...just a comment on catch and release of those big fish. I read somewhere that one of the worst things you can do is hold a large fish like that vertically...messes up there internal organs... fyi

Beautiful eye dude. Making me more and more eager for the girls to get back to town.
