Well it's been confirmed, we're getting a Bass Pro! I guess it's just gonna be a satellite store, not the huge monster store like in Toronto, but none the less! It's going in just south of the Invista center where all the construction is going on right now. not sure of opening date.

can't wait!!

Who confirmed it? It has been a rumour for quite some time now. I sure would like to see one come here too. I sure hope it is true and they don't make it too small

I work with a guy who got the landscaping maintenace contract for that property and he is saying that 100% that a bass pro is going there, it's a huge property so it's possible an IKEA could go there as well, who knows

I would like to think such an enterprise will force tackle prices down to that of the U.S. standard...but somehow I doubt it...we will still be expected to pay 20 to 25% above!

I've been hearing this rumour for a long time now. It'd be nice to be able to get a good selection of gear without driving for hours or paying high shipping costs, but I'll believe it when I see it

Kingston needs a tackle shop but bass pro is not ideal. Its more expensive than everyone else and will not force price compression the way a gander or sail would. Its too bad that this world is making it cheaper to shop online even paying shipping costs. Its eliminating jobs and taking away from local economies.

I just ordered reef runners from xtackle and with shipping it still worked out to be cheaper than buying the reefs at bass pro for $7.99 each and I didn't have to drive anywhere to getem.

Tough situation because retailers need margin to support overhead of labour etc and with min wage driven up to 10.25 now its a very high wage expense to support.

But atleast people have a place to go other than canadian tire which is primarily bass based selection (in the walleye capital)...

Would rather have a Sail or LeBaron. As said above, BPS prices are too high in Canada. Gander will never come to Canada, so forget that.
