The MNR contacted me to help recruit some volunteers. Specifically, they are looking for Anglers who focus on the late fall trophy walleye fishery to become involved in an Angler Diary Program. I have included a description of whats involved and the type of information you would record on your trips. It's noted that Angler diaries programs have been used in other areas with mixed results. The MNR would rather have a small sample of of detailed diaries than a large sample of incomplete diaries. They will provide you the diaries and they will be returned to you after. If you are interested please contact

Dan, is it worth while participating if the time spent on the water is minimal?? A couple of day trips here and there for the fall run? I'm sure there's a few boys on here that put alot of hours on the water when it starts to heat up. Those guys would be able to give more consistent info. Would love to participate, but my diary would be pretty short.

Spoke with Jim at the MNR and his answer to the question was an emphatic ABSOLUTELY! SO just to be clear even if you are only going to be out a few times this fall and wish to help out Quinte and the MNR please contact Jim Hoyle through the email given in the original post. Additionally, this is open to anyone who wants to get involved. You do not have to be a member of a fishing club.

There's no question the more people who participate the better the results of the study will reflect what is going on out there. Count me in!

I'll participate.

I'm just a little concerned regarding some of the questions being asked.

I know I'm very paranoid, as I've seen the MNR's decisions on atlantics, brown trout stocking, etc.

I'm often concerned the MNR looks to find ways of reducing, not enhancing.

Mainly the question about 2 rods per person east of Glenora.

I am going to pose this to Jim, and will report my findings.
