Has anyone been out to the Bonnet for walley. It may be to early but I seen some awesome picts from guys catching them last year and wanted to give it a try. I am in Brighton and can run out fairly quick on a com day but wanted to know if I should wait until mid october or start trying now.

The best day that we had last year was Sept. 17th. I have caught walleye at the Bonnet in previous years as late as Oct. 10th. But they are usually gone by Thanksgiving weekend.

I have heard of a couple being caught but have not been out this fall. Too much going on at this time. Water temps in the big Lake have been too high so far. We need a few days of north winds.

If you go ssmac report on your success.

Al

Water is alot cooler this year compared to last year this time. Rice was 60F on the flats and the walleye are just starting their fall patterns. Haven 't checked the bay, but i think things are going to move alot quicker this year than the less productive year we had last year.

I agree biff. Seems air and water temps are a bit below normal. Don't know if it will stay like that, but I hope so.

Also, I was on Rice all day Saturday, and never seen temps above 60. Tick Island, Cow Island, and Gores Landing. 56-59 no matter where I was.

Water temps in the big Lake are running a little higher than last year at this time. Because of the mild short winter the Lake never cooled enough and core temps reach higher levels this summer. In fact at the first of Sept. Eastern Lake Ontario was about 5 degrees F warmer than last year.

I expect Quinte to be even later than last year. Sorry guys but that is my prediction.

Thanks for the reply. I may try this Sunday or Monday weather permitting. Does anyone have any tips. Depth of water, temps ect or is it just try to find them and hope for the best. If I go I will keep you posted as to my success or lack of.

Talked to Predator yesterday at the Wellington launch. He was out in the afternoon and boated 1 eye at the Bonnet. 6 lbs. He said it was slow and maybe his last trip because the channel water levels are very low.
