For Quinte fall Eyes, seems a high percentage of people use Banana style baits. TD11, Reef Runner, Yo Zuri etc..... What ever happened to Shad body style?? I believe the Walleye from Lake O, follow Gizzard Shad into Adolphus, and also feed on Alewife (shad) Just seems funny you never hear any mention of shad body shape lures being used. Has anybody ever tried them, or do they just not work?? There are shad body baits that do dive down to 15-20 feet. TTShad 15-20 for example. Maybe on them slow days with the Banana's, the Shad might work.

Any opinions??

First trip up in 96 used nothing but CC shad and we did alright. People are still using them with leadcore.

Shad baits work ok CC Shad, Shad Raps etc. You usually have to run a lead core line or a weight to get them down when fishing over the deeper water and they are suspended. I will sometimes fish them in shallower water like the reach and Picton Bay later in the season. Never be afraid to experiment it's a never ending gamble and learning curve. I myself seldom target them much below 30ft as i dont care to pop there blatter hauling them up so a shad bait running 20 to 30 feet down is all good. I have caught many very big eyes just outside the harbour on Shad Raps just before freeze up.... Good Luck...

I find I have better luck with shad baits in the spring and in the fall if I'm fishing water less then 30ft deep

Thanks for the input guys. I kinda figured there were a few of you that used them. I usually only run a 2 or 3 rod spread  and have 1,375,296 lures to choose from, so it can make it a little hard to to figure out what to put on the end of the line.

Good Luck out there!!!!
