I didn't want to hi-jack the Deseronto post so thought I'd start a new one.

I drive by Invista (Dupont) everyday to and from work. This morning it looked like the water dropped about another foot over night. I don't recall ever seeing it this low.

Yesterday it didn't seem nearly as low as this morning and everywhere along the shore line, about a foot of green algae was showing.

It's like a damn had broke, suddenly lowering the water levels...odd!

Cheers

Someone on the board mentioned they were drawing water in Montreal off the St Lawrence River last week and it might affect the water levels here in Lake Ontario. Not sure how much it would affect us here..

your right legacy, the bay is the lowest i have seen it in years, the wind direction plays a role in dowtherm bay as the bottom is a very gradual slope,i cant remember the last time i saw mud on the lake side of the road......there used to be a link to lake "O" water levels , lost it when my computer crashed. does anyone still have the link ?

Tylercurt...I was thinking the same but not sure how long it would take for us to see a difference.

I was talking to someone and they said maybe due to the winds but I can't understand how, basically over-night, it's shown as much of a difference as it did this morning. Yesterday it was calm waters.

In front of the Hospital, I think you'd be hard pressed to walk on the rocks closest to the water line...it's nothing but the green slime / algae that grows on the rocks, under water.

I know yesterday morning in Elevator Bay, it was low but no where near as low as today.

If boat launches were tough last weekend and other areas of the Lake are what I'm seeing, they're going to be damn near impossible now.

Hey Steve....I was thinking of stopping by there after work tonight to check it out.

My buddy owns West End Marine and saw him pulling in there yesterday, to pull a big cruiser boat out. It's a good thing he has the industrial trailer.

I have a hard time jumping up to the dock when the water is normal level. My short legs for sure won't make it now.

Cheers

My sister works at KGH...she was parked near the water and about an hour ago, coincidentally called me to ask about the water levels.

So maybe it's a brother / sister thing cause she was telling me how bad it is right now and that it wasn't like this a couple of days ago when she parked.

She said you can't safely walk on the rocks on the water line with all the new slime now showing and being too slippery.

I think you're correct Tylercurt...but it takes a few days to notice the difference.

Lake O is still .1 of a meter above chart datum at Kingston and .2 of a metre above at Cobourg the last time I checked.

It has been lower than this in the past 20 years.
