For those of you who follow the FLW Professional Walleye Series out of the States. It looks like its official the FLW Walleye Series will be no more.

They made the formal announcement at the rules meeting for the FLW Walleye Championship being held right now on the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities.

The "new" series will be the National Walleye Tour - Run by Cabelas.... The website is here: www.nationalwalleyetour.com

It should be an interesting series as there will only be three events and a championship.

I guess the FLW is just going to focus on the little green carp from now on.

Just an FYI the FLW does a live video feed for the weigh-ins starting today at 4pm central time.. just log onto www.flwoutdoors.com and look up flw "live"

The guys I know said the weights will be LOW- the water is waaay down and they are "locking" to pool 14 - this will only give them 2-2.5 hrs to fish! Combined with a crazy slot limit... it will be a challenge for sure.

walleye tournaments are a tough game.

bass fishing is simply more exciting....

its only so interesting to "watch" (on tv) boats trolling and jiggin...

its simply more fun to watch a guy fishing the slop for "green carp".

walleye fishing can be fun to actually do, but to market it to an audience, its tough.

they will likely focus on the fewer tournaments, rather than watering down the action.

I read a write up on this, low attendance at events, Constance negative feedback from the public, lose of sponsorship, increasing costs, etc...

And every thing Steve already mentioned.

Sad to see this go, but like cutting the woman's series in 2007, they will get rid of any thing that isn't making them money.

Walleye tournament organizers sure have a tough time keeping events going.

My favourite fish next to Brownies.

Its sad but flw will cut what doesn't make them money. Im a bass guy but I did like watching the walleye events taught me a bunch stuff to use up here and it works. Give it time and the two walleye guys from the next bite will put on one

The real problem lies in that bass are available to be caught all over north america and walleye are limited to certain bodies of water. My sothern friends dont even know what the heck a walleye is. Less tv=less viewers= less money= less sponsors. Its tough
