I have not been on the ice in Belleville yet but i drive over the bridge every day . There seems to be 4 or 5 hard core guys out there fishing in places that were open water the day before . It's spose to go up to 12 degs on thursday so it is going to get worse instead of better . I can't
swim to well so I'll stay on shore for now . Other spots like Bayside have better ice but that will take a beating the next couple of days . Its got to get cold soon !!!!! I will wait it out .

Ya you might want to hold out on that one for a bit....I was out there the other day near the Pier and drilled a few....some spots still only 4 or 5 inches of ice and with the currecnt under it I don't fully trust it. I have been staying on the small lakes for now especially Oak Lake, on the way to Stirling....lots of ice and some nice crappie in there. Even pulled a few decent size pike.

That was from my last outing with my pal Kevin at the AO tourney near Apsley.

I am going out to Oak Lake again on the weekend to pull out some more slabs

It's north of Belleville about 10 minutes....Hwy 62 to Hwy 14 and only a few minutes south of Stirling....summer time is good there too....Lg & Sml mouth, pickerel, pike, crappie......it's a small lake but not overfished.

Hi Crappieguy,

I looked at the map Hwy62 and hwy 14 is parallel, can i go by Oak lake road and park at the end of the road, how thick is the ice and how deep is the water!
Thanks!
Crappie

Hey Crappie....If you have the map there and you can see where Oak Lake Rd is, turn down that. As soon as you get onto the road you will see the lake. Go around to the opposite side (east side) and you will notice a camp ground on one side and a swimming area on the other. You should be able to park almost anywhere along there. The launch in on the north side of the swimming area. As far as depth goes, the deepest is roughly 30'. I have had good luck fishing on the south-east side in about 15' of water and also on the west side where there is a shallow weedbed in about 10' of water. If you are looking for the pike though you can get in closer to shoreon the south side and farther out into deeper water.

Good Luck....maybe we'll see ya there

Hey Crappie,

This is for Division 7

Walleye
Jan. 1 to Mar. 31 &
2nd Sat. in May to Dec. 31
S - six (6) in one day
C - two (2) in one day

Crappie
Open all year
S - no limit
C - no limit

The Ice right now is about 10" with the recent mild weather there has been alot of Slush out there but the last few night it has hardened up again. So it should be pretty safe. Just try and stay along the outside of the lale, the center does have some thin spots.
