got out on staurday and fished thompsons and shermins point for four hours.me and my parnter jigged for two hours with lots of perch and white bass or silver bass whatever, could not pick up any eyes at all.we were marking fish so we started trolling assosrted colours of reef runners and rapalas and some cotton cordials behind planner boards for two hours and nothing at all.hopefully next weekend we can tune in and hit some fish,it was just nice to get out and fish for the day and we ended up at mom and dads for a great family diner and good laughs, got up sunday and it was cold rainy and windy so i loaded up the boat and headed home.

At least you got out ! We were planning to fish the larry near prescott, but decided to stay local in case it got nasty, fished the Ottawa river, got about 35 walleye, all released except 4 eaters, bite was decent, biggest fish were about 4 lbs.best bait was slow death at 1 mph ish, got a pile of crappies tho' goin' that slow , lol, and some 5-10lb pike, actually got 4-5 pike to the boat on light mono, and a few instant bow ups and gondie pike.

Do you guys ever use artificial worms on the slow death rig?? (Gulp Alive) I find using live worms, the perch are all over it. I spend more time with my line out of the water changing worms, but when I use artificial, the panfish tend to stay away.

Ho Hum got 35 walleye?!?!?! And this was you second choice of a place to fish? When you fish the St Lawrence near prescott do the fish just jump in the boat? :)

funny, If I'm getting into the perch on a harness, I'll switch to the death to get away from them. reg GULP worms I find are too big/rigid, put a bigger bend in the main bend of the shank, or find GULP sandworms, (a saltwater bait I think) they run better, as they're smaller and softer.

I've read about using the sandworms, but have never tried it. The last couple of years, I stopped using live worms altogether on harnesses because of the perch. I use the Gulp Alive Nightcrawlers now, without noticing any difference in catching fish. Maybe catching more, because your line stays in the water longer not having to change/add worms all the time. It's $20 a pail, but that will usually get me through the summer.
