I am sure that most of you will respond saying that there is no alternative for the Bay, but I figured I would try somewhere else until the fish really start to hit down there. A friend and I went to Crowe Lake on Sunday and got a nice eye at about 4 pounds, a ten pund lunge and a small pike. All hit small grubs worked down weedlines. It is a nice lake and because it is a little bit smaller than the average lake it is a good retreat on those windy fall days.

Hi Grafton,
Don,t know if you know the area already....Drive east on #7 to Kaladar
turn S on 41 about 12k on the right is Mellon Lake and a nice new boatlaunch. The area is owned by the Moira River Conservation Authority,
contains half a dozen small lakes, some accessible only on foot. Launch the boat, you,re in Litte mellon, motor to the far side toward the left and find the inlet into another smaller lake. Troll , jig or use minnows for very yellow pickeral ond peculiar pike with different markings.!?!
Although not large in surface area, these lakes are very deep in places
and offer a challenge to anyone with a fish finder and a little patience.
