Launch at 6:00am..we were out west of Keith Shoal & lines set by 6:45. Has a 6 line spread. 2 Riggers with spoons at 30 & 40ft. Dipsey at 2.5 with NK 28 Yellow Monkey Puke out 100ft. Chartruse Storm Thunder Stick, TD11 in Browny Gold, Cotton Cordell Banna Fire Tiger out on big boards. 1st hit came on the the dipsey with spoon...8lbs. We also ran a 7 colour lead core with spoons & a 3 colour lead core with Rapala F18's. We were marking lots of hooks near Keith Shoal...most hooks were down deep with nothing taking a hit. Lots of streakers coming to look at the riggers (Balls) but no takers. We contunued to trolled past the Bat Cave & turned North across the reach started to get several marks up high 20ft. Turnes East & trolled about 4-600ft. Nice hit on a TD11 (Browny Gold flash)...7lbs. Went about another 1/2 mile & did a U-turn. Took another hit on Trolls to 20 in Blue & Chartruese...7lbs. Continued West about about 1/2 mile did a U-turn going East now took 2 more hits both off the big boards. Lost both fish...one was big... lost it when it started to swim to the boat and we didn't reel fast enough and it go some slack. No problem there alway next time  . So there was no reel pattern of baits. We changed up probably 10 times. The only pattern that I saw was...I needed to find fish in the upper 30ft of water. Those seemed to be the active ones.

I wanted to try something for future use. The fish that came on the dipsey from approximately 45ft down came up and was expanded with it air bladder. I wanted to fizz the fish like what is done to SM Bass that come from 45ft to see it the Walleye would right itself in the live well and recover. Did the fizz and the fish did recover no problem in the live well. It appeared that the fish could then be released to swim back down without the fear of the fish floating & eventually being left to die.

Shawn

Thanks for the awesome report Sam and for putting in the effort to make sure that fish you caught deep was healthy for release. As a bass fisherman I've had the opportunity to fizz plenty of bass but have never tried it on a walleye. The first fish I ever fizzed were perch that we were catching in 50 fow. It's not that hard at all and if you ever catch perch deep that you're planning on keeping anyway they're great to experiment with.

Here"s a little tutorial on fizzing bass for those of you who are interested http://www.bassmaster.com/slideshow/fizzing-fish-step-step-how I know that there are still questions regarding the effectiveness of this procedure. In a tagging project carried out by the Aurora Bassmasters on Lake Simcoe, some of the tagged fish caught from deep water in fall tournaments and that had been fizzed, have been been recaptured, alive and well!!!

Very informative report, we get alot of walleye in 80-90 fow in the summer in lake madawaska, we fizz 'em and send 'em right back down, never found any floaters 'cause of that, grew up in florida, we used to fizz grouper out of 200' + and they swim back down.

Tks for report skipper, you did well.
I see a pattern..Trolls to 20 far from boat does well, our biggest last year was on that.
Think the TD-11s and reefer 800 s are too deep for active fish, sooner have bait above them,
but wouldn't want to give out too much info.
Gotta remenber we're trying to mimic a dying gizzard shad,..lures, then boat control . :D
If you see a foolish yak on the north side it's probably me ( trying to talk others into it for safety ). :D
