Well we left peterborough at 5:45 this morning and I figured we had enough gas to make it to the enroute gas station on the 401 to fill the vehicle and boat up, ( I was bang on in this prediction) as we ran out of gas I rolled down the off ramp and i made it to the first pump i could see. theres no way i could have rolled to the middle pump haha i knew luck was on our side! So we got the lines setup just east of the ferry around 8:15 this morning.
We trolled the north side first up to the lighthouse. With 1 beuatiful sheepy to show for it. We then washed lures until 12:30p.m. TD11,s, and Reef Runners and a BLACK and GOLD spoon with a silver sparkly back:P . We were just west of keiths shoal and east of the ferries when we decided to pack her in! I did what i always do and snapped the spoon out of the rigger set at 40' and let the lure come to the top while i bring in the ball! I got the ball unclipped and put it away and went to reel the pole in and to my delite there was a fish on it!!
Turned out to be a 8 lb or so wally came aboard my 14' ship (no scale) Not sure if the fish had been on the spoon for a while swimming with it, or if it hit once unclipped rising to the top??????? That made up for the 4 hours of washing lures! We called it a day and packed it in! Water temp in picton bay was 46 and the reach was 49
Cant figure out how to add my pics
GOOD LUCK
