The Eighth Annual Live Release Fall Classic Walleye Derby in support of University Hospital Foundation Kingston- Kingston General Hospital (Kids at Christmas) was held from the Shermans Point launch ramp on Saturday, Nov 17,2012.
Fishers arrived early for the live check and the fishing began at 0630 (probably a little later - it was too dark to see). Fishers scattered to all parts of Quinte from the launch ramp.
The derby was concluded at 1330 with the last boat docking and reporting no fish in the well.
At 1400, Derby Organizer, Les Corbay following some very kind words by Bob Fendley began the prize awards ceremony.
The winning fisher was Quinte Prince with a 9.15 lb walleye. Way to go QP!!!!!!
Second Prize was awarded to another board member - Superdad with a 7.96 lb walleye.
I forgot to write down the 3rd place entrant and I apologize profusley.
The fourth place was QP's young brother - Fareed with a walleye over 5lbs.
There were a total of 85 tickets sold, ergo 85 fishers on the water and there were four (4) fish entered. Everyone had a tough day fishing.
The organizer had a great chili and a wonderful array of prizes. Everyone had their tummies filled and a shot at the prize table.
My congrats to Les and his crew and the sponsors of the event to raise over $400 for the Hopsitals in Kingston. - Good Job Les.
We are looking forward to the 2014 event.
David aka Superdad
