I've read that the average depth for lead core is 5 feet per colour and that this depth is dependent on speed, but I've read people using segmented lead core. The popular lengths seem to be 2, 3 and 5 colour. I'm just curious what sort of depths are people reaching with 2, 3 and 5 colour lengths and what speed are they moving at?

Thanks in advance. Brian

Basically 3,4, or 5 colors with a 60ft leader of power pro will get all your lures to the depth you want. Get a lure dive chart, add in depth at 6O feet, 5 feet per color and total both. Add an 8ft and 5ft floro leader on a 3 way and wala, your golden. Make sure diver on short leader and floater on long one. We caught doubles using this very set up.

I think he's running two off a three way swivel! Run a deep diving crank and then a spoon or floating bait above it. The crank digs down in the water and the other just works above it. Hope that helps
Cheers

No, just 2 lures, 4 hooks max per rod I believe. I ran alot of jr thundersticks. Same color pattern, one floater, one diver. This gives them the look of a straggler trailing. Some lures you need to remove middle treble. Good luck.

I always tell myself that I'm going try the 3-way swivel rig, but I have yet to try it. Sounds like it would work great. Unfortunately I don't get enough time on the water in the fall to experiment. In October before the water cools down, a worm harness on top would probably be effective.

if you can double your presentation from 4 to 8 lures in the water, why wouldn't you? The fishery is not what it was in 2004, but that set boated over 100 eyes in 3 weeks fishing for us. It can only increase your hook ups. Braided line is also a must for soft bites on long lines out 200ft. Its been a struggle for a lot of people, hope it helps out. Would love to hear some results.

great to have your input again on here RR.

you provided me the info on that setup back in 2005, and we have running it successfully ever since. My personal best, 14.8, came on the top of a 3 way setup. it was our purple daemon double double (diver and ripstick with middle treble removed).

we have successfully run stick baits, spinner rigs, and spoons on the top...

2004 and 2005 were special years.

Wisherman, Here is an article that should answer most of your questions on cores.

Really excellent article Al, thanks for the link.
Although a rookie ,the leadcore line is often the hot stick for us and the lure doesn't
go below 40 feet. :)
