Had the pleasure of getting out Thursday with a friend Capt. Joe (Maverick) for a recreational day on the water. My first outing this year for Walleye ( I'm ashamed to say). Started nice and early with a lot of friends out with the same idea, to catch some big girls. We started east of the ferry. I started the day with my first rod being a braid setup and running a variation of TD 11's back 220 with little success, I then switch it out for a 3 core and drag some Mann's and Sebile's on that side, again no luck. My second choice is my go to scenario of a 2 core pulling my favourite lure the infamous Easter Egg back 100 past the core. This as usual pays off for me and it does. My first fish of the day is a nice average fish 5/13. I continue my good fortune with a second hit on the Easter Egg a smaller one this time, maybe around 3, but a beautiful gold coloured fish the nicest I've ever seen, absolutely flouresant! Joe has a pic, maybe he'll add it to the post. Joe then takes a beauty at 10/2. So we're 3 for 3 . We continue our pattern and the a catastrophe occurs Joe notice's my go to setup take a big bounce and then nothing, so I leave it be to see if I'll get another hit, nothing. I then decide maybe the lure has gone cold and decide to change it out. Grab the rod and nothing but the board action get my line close to the boat and my absolute favourite lure is gone!!!!!!!!! Bit off!!!!! With me pouting and Joe laughing we decide to move. We head in to Picton Bay to try our luck, marked lots but no takers and our day ends with dark approaching. A great day for sure for my first outing!

Thanks again Joe for the invite it was a great time and a pleasure to be out fishing with you again.

And to the lucky buggar who drags up a huge walleye with a easter egg in it's yap, nice fish but I want my lure back! LOL.

Can't wait for the second trip of the year.

It was fun to get out with ya and as usual gene your stories never disappoint. Gene forgot to mention that Easter egg was possessed as my Easter egg just gave m a goose egg, but I was lucky enough to have one of my clutch reefs come thru and land this 10.2 lb eye.
