Myself and 2 of my bass fishing buddies (Quinte rookies) made the trek down from Ottawa on Saturday to try our luck at finding some Quinte gold, been skunked so far this fall.
We launched at Picton and set up east of the ferry, with a variety of deep divers on mono, 3 colour and 5 colour core, and spoons on the rigger. Not much action to start.
I was communicating with a couple other Quinte board members via text message and after switching up a few things my buddy finally lands our first fish, his first Quinte eye and his PB walleye, a nice 9 pound fish. Fish was caught on a barbie reefrunner 150 feet back off the board.
We worked the same area for awhile hoping to find a few more active fish but no results.
We pulled our lines and headed west of the ferry trolling around Thompson's point area for awhile, I was surprized only around 10 boats jigging Thompsons. We then continued to troll Picton bay until about 5:30pm but no other fish.
Put the boat on the trailer, with a few technical difficulties, looks like I need a new trailer winch, and headed back home.
So our results we not great, but atleast we got the skunk off, and although it rained a bit the weather was relatively warm.
