I have never fished that lake, but have fished nearby lakes. Was not aware it had splake, I know Machesney has splake which is very close and not far off 41. fished it with great success a couple of times last year. The splake are very small, about the size of a large perch. We caught almost all of them just a couple inches below the ice. Not having fished them before, and finding this out accidentally ( My friend was pouring himself a coffee and had his line just below the ice and caught the first one LOL). Does anyone know if this is normal for all splake?

Feeny has brookies. Machesney is being switched to rainbows this year. your experience is not uncommon.

Sorry misread, thought he said splake in Feeney but I see he said specks. That is cool that Machesney is getting rainbows, hadn't heard that.

hey guys.. good to see there ae others who have had the pleasure of hitting those lakes. my dads buddy pulled a 6 pounder thru the ice on feeney years ago, and i am heading up there next tuesday for a week. i have yet to hit Machesney, didn't know it had splake :) i had heard it was rainbows too, but hey... lol i have heard from some friends that live up that way, there is a skating rink on my bay, and the jigging holes around it have 8-15+ inches of good ice, with a layer of crap ontop in spots, but all in all good to go!!!! YAY

Thanks for the shares, keep em coming :)

ya its quite the trip up that hill.. lol first time i was there with my dad and his buddy's, we had the quad with the canoe on top, and 3 guys were holding the "roll cage" of the quad to keep it from tipping down the trail... omg it was a trip.. a bit easier in the snow if ya have a sled.. but with the weather im hoping the trail will be good for the quads :?

Hey Grillzy, just saw the Bancroft stock list, 2014 for rainbows in Machesney, interested to see how they do.

How is it to get into there without a sled or 4wheeler? I'm heading up to my cottage on the Skoot in a couple of weekends and would love to give Feeny a go!
