I have decided to take the plunge and buy the HDS Touch but I still have to decide whether to go with the 7 or the 9. Can you confirm pricing on each of these includind the LSS-2 structure scan transducer?

If it was me Mech I would go the 9 as you get the video in port with the 9. Hook up that underwater camera and see whats down there on the fly. pretty sweet

You need to buy a LSS2 transducer as it's not include with it.

Southfish, take care if you are using the touch screen model for icefishing. Extreme cold can impact the performance of the touch screens, similar to how it can slow down LCD unit displays. If you use a hut with a heater probably no issues, but I think that unit specifies -15C as the lowest temp for operation.

I'm sure Lawren can advise you better, but I'd consider picking up a flasher rather than take a chance of ruining a nice high end unit like the HDS 7 Gen2 Touch.

Hi Dog Leg,

In the menu options of the HDS 7 Touch, it has an "Ice Fishing" mode. I have been using it for about 5 weeks now in the cold water and twice on the ice. It seems to work great.

Hi G.Mech,

To buy the HDS Gen 2 Touch 9 and utilize SS, you will be set back over $3000 when all is said and done. ($2499: HDS Touch 9 + $235 SS Transducer = $2734 + tax = $3089.42

It's a nice unit, but pricey. The 7 HDS with BOTH transducers is $1799 + tax. It's over a $1000 difference for 1.9 inches of screen. It's also a very big unit and mounting it may be an issue. But if you have the space and green paper, go for it.

Just my thoughts....

I know you need to buy the LSS-2 transducer separately for the HDS-9 and do understand the relative costs for the 7 & 9" screens and the features of each. I have researched this to death. I was hoping that after a week that somebody from Radioworld would respond with current pricing but I guess they are too busy. I was in Toronto today and wanted to go and buy my new toy but I guess I will make other arrangements.

The other advantage to going with the 9" unit over the 7" unit is that you will have the video in like Dan mentioned and 2 Ethernet ports as opposed to 1 on the 7". Other than that is the screen size.

If you need pricing just head over to our website www.radioworld.ca which is always updated. As a QuinteFishing.com member you are entitled to the QuinteFishing Discount of 5% off our prices for units and 10% off for accessories. Just ask for that discount when you are on the phone or in the store or use the comment field for online orders.

Hi Lawren.

I am having some trouble with my HDS 7 Touch. I'm trying to change the units to Km/H from MPH in the settings menu. It won't allow me to change it when I click on Km/H in the drop down menu box. All the other functions can be succesfully changed.

Any advice as to why this might be happening?

Thanks

Kevin

No idea on that one. My unit is at version 2.0 and I just tried it and it works fine. Can you change it to NM by chance?
