Good stuff there Fred!! Baked, fried or boiled they're nice fish.

What I like to see is that you still have a smile on your face holding those dandy meals-to-be.

This is not a genuine blue pickerel as they are extinct. I was talking with Al Trannyman and he was telling me that this is a pigmentation variation. It was a pretty cool looking fish all the same and was pretty blue. The fins were quite blue and some blue along the back but the side's looked more normal. It was had to try and show the color with the flash of the camera but still a very cool looking eye for sure....

The ERIE Blue pickerel No longer exist,

There Are Still Blue Pickerel available to be caught.

and Studies suggest even a gold Walleye can go Blue over time..

the Best way to determine a blue Eye, Is the color of the Slime. The Blue color will show on a white piece of paper very easily.

It Is Suggested that the Eyes Produce this Blue pigmentation as a source of sunscreen, and that the DNA is Exactly similar to the Gold Walleye Counter parts, and they both Taste the same.

There still are true Blue Pickerel in ontario, Just not the ERIE Strain of "blue pickerel" that use be very abundant.

Northern ontario lakes produce these specimen of Eyes frequently.

a Quick GOOGLE search about Blue Pickerel Will give you allot of answers as to where to find them and the scientific research that has gone into the "NOVELTY" of Blue Pickerel.
