down riggers at 40 and 50' worked the best with a slow troll!!!

What cement plant are you talking about. The one in Picton only has 37 feet of water in front of it so you would be doin some serious draggin at 40 and 50 feet with riggers.

Actually, depending on the weights being used and speed of troll, you could be down a few extra feet. and not be bouncing bottom. As we all know, there's natural arc that takes place in the wires and then the swing behind the boat. No real rule of thumb that I know of but I think anything over 45 feet would be draggin' for sure. Maybe they found a depression out there somewhere?

Cheers,

Wow, you folks are tuff ! Here is a guy that give a fairly good report with some pointers to be taken and your all bustin' his balls. Whatever the length of line or whatever it dont really matter. The point is that downriggers are proven to work. Gee folks, give em a break.

Hey, I wasn't bustin' anyone's chops (or any other part of the anatomy) :? I was trying to defend the guy if anything. Tried to say it was possible to be down that far and not be draggin'. There's many reasons the riggers could be reading greater depths than actual distance top to bottom.

Sorry if it cam across differently. Targa 2 does know his depths out there but sometimes strange things can happen on the water. I'd never want to discourage anyone from posting their achievements. We all learn a thing or two, right?

Cheers.

Congrats on the catch. What lures and colours were you pulling behind the riggers? Thx.
