Just curious if I can go ahead and sink some brush piles or do I need the ministries consent first?

Give the glenora fisheries station a quick call. Better to hear it right from the horses mouth. In the states they do this type of thing quite alot but I havent heard much of it being done here

You might want to get ahold of your local conservation authority too. I know that they deal with depositing things into the water.

speaking as someone from NY who has done exactly what you are talking about. trust me you do this under the cover of darkeness and keep your mouth shut ..... but be sure to get the GPS waypoints lol....... they will never in a million years allow you to do this and if they catch you doing it you better have some money to pay the fines....... trust me on this one....... you will be shut town istantly and then they will watch you to see if you went ahead....... bottom line is they do not want you to take anything out or put anything into the water system no matter how harmless it is or seems to be,,,,,,,, if they catch you digging out dirt around your dock you can and will be fined if they catch you sinking a christmas tree to hold fish you will be fined just the same......... now. what they dont know will never hurt them if you catch my drift!!!!

sorry guys old post but I think its okay to make structure beds as I do it all the time with an mnr friend on rice lake ..we go out and make crappy structure logs rocks and cement blocks to weight everything down..i doubt if it was illegal he would be doing it and as I say every year we do it..i have ten huge structure piles on rice lake I bet

Also works real well if you take two inch pvc cut the end on angle so you can jam it in dirt.. Make your pieces up to whatever size you can get them out to spot,then drive then end in the bottom at the same time as attaching a weight to it,i found it easy to do with a drill and wire and that way you can put the rubber tubeing for wires over the cuts end and its not sharp..the pvc works gd as u can fish it all day and never get snagged but the fish have a ton of structure to hide in...if you live in the area let me know we will go for an ice fish if we ever get ice dude....no saving way points though lol

I find it hard to believe that throwing plastic into the lake is legal

A couple of guys tried this a few months ago on a Kawartha Lake. It worked pretty good!!! They sunk a few laundry baskets tied together down to the bottom, and next thing you know....BOOM!!! They were filled with 20-25 lbs of Largemouth Bass.....

I heard about those guys, their idea was so good that it was posted on all fishing sites. So in the event that you saw them out and about you could ask them all about it lol

If you find out if the ministry permits it, let me us know. My thoughts are it's illegal as noted above, nothing allowed to be altered.
