Lol go read and not just that one link, The changes made in the bill don't only affect the pipeline & it is for all of Canada as well. Hopefully because this river affects Trout something will be done but I would not hold my breath on it.

I am well versed in the legislation and actually studied this act and a number of similar ones in school. My point is removal of lakes and rivers from the NWPA does not open them up to be exploited, these bodies of water are already under the purview of other levels of govt, the NWPA is government duplication at its worst. This is a local, municipal and poss. provincial, issue and thats where the battle to protect our rivers and lakes needs to happen. The NWPA is a red herring, its a political football, let the clowns in Ottawa yap at each other about it, and stay out of local decisions. Guys in this post have the right idea, put pressure on your local pols and you will stand a better chance of protecting this creek.

This is troubling to read. I have been aware of this stream for a long time, but am too far away to be of much assistance. I will write a letter or email of some sort in the morning, as a show of support for a very unique ecosystem, that deserves better. Thanks to teh OP for bringing this up. I wish you well.

here is your chance guys . good time to make a showing of support for our eco system remember after the fact its too late to complain. its doubtful they will stop there plan but with enough voice and consurn they might make a plan thats more good than harm and will work for all.......... if they refuse to see this as a viable trout stream and look at it as nothing more than a waste water ditch run off our trout are doomed forever more in this stream.
They make this out as a big deal that NEEDS to be done and this is just NOT the case....... we are only talking a short window of time when this stream is running at what you might call a high water levle and it has run like this for over 100 years maybe a 1000 or more but at one time people built structures OVER this stream so even back then they saw and reconized its inportiance.
Quinte Conservation is in favor of one of the three plans I myself find it hard to believe they would be in favor of anything but since they dont live here and dont see the real true story they must also be convinced this is just a water run off and not a natural reproducting trout stream .
The way I see it is they could spend ALOT less money and have all summer to work under these buildings to make any repaires and maybe spend a little of the money saves to actually help the stream and do some much needed maintinance to help replace silted in spawn bedding areas that have already been damaged by man .
Meeting tonight boys 5-7 come out and show some support . grizz

well it wasnt really a meeting guys more like an outing to show the public what thay PLAN to do. it really sucks how they PLAN to shove this down the throtes of the public and expect them to just lay down and go with it all.... its a sad time thats for sure since they are so worried about what joe public does yet they feel that can do anything they please and say its all for the betterment of mankind........ they even seem to have the quinte conservation on there side i at this point dont think thei is about can it be stopped more rather when they are going to get started and i might add they are already 1000,000 over budget and they havent done anything other than pay some big firm to do an impact study and give 4 perposals on how to attack a stream. whats sad is this is not an issue thats seems to be up for a discussion or debate apparently its an issue thats been on the table since 2001 just no one knew anything about it until a couple months ago go figure that one out........ but all i can say is if you do care then bug the hell out of the quinte conservation this is an orginization that tells us they care about our enviroment but seems they only care when its against the little man not the big government again try to figure that one out as well .as pissed as I am to think they feel the right to do as they please i am only one guy who sat in a room and talked to many people who all feel the same as I do yet our voice or consurn seems to land on deft ears
