Traveling to Hay Bay this weekend. Can anyone give me a report on how the fishing is or has been in the past week or so?

Got out yesterday and cought 2 small ones, lots of pike in the bay as well. Winds have been bad the last few days mixing things up and more to come tomorrow. Weekend looks promising though. Good luck..

Fishing has been slow, some people have had their limit but most have strugled.
Constant heavy winds have been a main problem this spring.
With the storm that has just past and warmer weather coming it should make for a positive effect on the fish.

We were up from the Friday before the long weekend until the following Friday.
Fishing was the worst we've seen in years. Most were pan size and the remainder were 1- 2 1/2 lbs. Weeds on the flats were not yet developed. Normally we fish weedlines in 7-9 feet of water. No weeds there. The deepest weedlines we could find were 4-5 feet. Caught most of our fish down around Ram Island and Sherman's Point.
Word up there was fishing was gangbusters opening weekend and then went downhill from there.
Weather was decent on the long weekend but it too went downhill from the Monday on. Thunderstorms and high winds. Bay was really churned up. Lots of weedmats floating around making trolling difficult. Water was really merky.
Hope you have better luck.

Can't comment on anything East of the narrows, but Belleville to Trident has been producing lots of fish all season. managed 9 casting in 6-9' just prior to the cold front, was out 2 days ago in the wind and managed 7 in Big Bay area in 12-17', although many where smaller since the cold front came through, the smaller eaters are still hitting. Catching them at all depths, find some weed lines/shoals and throw/troll cranks.

Went out on Monday with the brother in law. Great day on the water, Started out at 10:00 am and had 5 in the boat by 1:00pm. Mainly backtrolling with meps size 3 and a bit of worm.

We mostly fished right across from Blakewoods in about 7.5 feet of water. Trolled along the weedlines making pass after pass. I saw a few other boats out there that didn't do so well, but they were fishing deeper water. All my fish were caught in 8 feet or less of water. Largest was 4.5 lbs.

Fished for 6 hours this morning , got 2 pike and lost a nice eye trying to get it into the net ...lol Lots of grass pads and loose grass floating around the front part of Hay Bay. Talked to about 6 boats and only one landed one, about 4 lbs. Water was like glass this morning and wind picked up around 11:30.

Thanks for all the great info from everyone. This is the first time I used this board and it is nice to know that I can depend on it for great updates. Thx again. Regardless of the fishing, I still can't wait for the weekend on the water.

We did well there a week ago monday. But not in the usual spots. 14.5 FOW seemed to be the key, worm harnesses Green and or Chartreuse, real real slow. 8 eyes all 20-23" between 2 and 4 pm....

Good luck this weekend, give us an update, I am heading back down next friday...

Had a great weekend on Hay Bay. The weather cooperated for the most part and the fish were biting. We managed to boat plenty of 'eyes this weekend and had a great fish fry both Friday night and Saturday night. We tried everything from worms harnesses to CC Shads and Cotton Cords., but only one set up and colour worked all weekend. The worm harness with a three way swivel and a 1/4 oz Lindy weight on a green and silver double hook worm harness. All our fish were caught on this rig.
