Fishing for Browns in the Bay

I have never tried browns in the bay, but would like to give it a go next Friday before the big show. Any tips as to location, depth favourite lures etc would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot give a recent comment, but can tell you that to the best of my knowledge most browns in the area used to be caught further out in the lake (look up the pics that Superdad had taken). In the Bay of Quinte itself, I have heard of a few.....very few. Hopefully you will get some more up to date information, that is useful to you.

You might try in front of the Lennox and Addington Generating Station.
The ministry stocked brown`s a few years ago and they are still around. You might even get into laker`s which I have caught there. The best place to launch is in the park just west of Bath Ontario. Also watch the winds, if they are from the south it can be hard to handle the boat, it from the north its like a pond. Downriggers work the best with the usual
trout lures.

dennis, have you ever fished around Amherst island?

i'm looking to try there this summer for a change in scenery, if the winds will cooperate.

Thanks Dennis. We are stayin at Merland Park and figured if we get down on time we might as well give it a try. A guy came in with a beauty last year on the Friday afternoon.

Well, sort of........

We've done well this spring fishing over by the Sandbanks Prov Park, Too Far from Merlands unless you trailer over the outlet.

It's quite a run from Meland to the L&A Generating station at the junction of Rte 133 and Rte 21.

If the weather is right, shouldn't be a problem, BUT watch the winds is they get strong.

Yes I have fished Amherst Island and the Smallmouth fishing was very good and I don`t think it gets much pressure. There are islands at the far
west end of the islands that I have caught many but have not been over
there for 2 years. There is another some very good spots along the shore
from the west end of the island to the middle, there are a lot of
buoys that mark the drop offs.Try there also

I just looked at my routes on my computer and the run from Merland Park to the Generating Station 17.8 miles

Wow 17.8 miles is a fair distance Howard. First things first though buddy,
you still haven't made it safely across the dock yet at Merlands.
Lets stay focused on the first oh, say 100 feet of your journey.

Use your new found ability to actually get in a boat as a stepping stone.
From there I'd map a route to the Cement plan ( how far eye tracker?), keep it simple, planer boards, snaps and an HJ Clown outta do it. I think what we learned on our recent troll for grey trout should be applied here, and annonced for all our friends on this board.

Fish deep lads....arghhh...deeper than you think.
You heard it here first.

Damn this extra week is killin' me!
