Well I was up in Orillia on the weekend visiting the inlaws and the wife's dad and I ended up doing some Smallie fishing. He out fished me of course 7-4 :), but it was a great time out. He landed the largest one, it being just shy of 6lbs. The rest were 4lbs and under.

Heading back up this weekend for a camping weekend with the guys. Hopefully the smallies are hitting again.

Cheers
Morton

You did well, Lady simcoe can be a finnicky lake but she usually gives up a few good ones every trip. Good on ya

It's an unbelievable fishery for the amount of pressure on it.

Enjoy!

Ya the friggin Goby's and Cormorants and destroying the fish population. There are literally thousands of Cormorants on that lake. I heard they eat twice there body weight in fish everyday. Times that by the number birds and that's a lot of fish not making it to maturity.

They really need to be thinned out, but you can't shoot the damn things. Makes no sense to me.

Nice, tubes, drop shot baits, (slammer's, hammer shad, jackal cross tail shad), Spinner baits with a trailer hook.

Crank baits also work, but would make sure you have a good hook, such as mustad kvd trebles.

Would you add a plastic to the trailer hook on the Spinners?

Well, the latest Simcoe trip didn't produce the fish we were hoping. The bite wasn't on. Not even a night crawler could entice a bite. Only 3 smallies were caught all weekend. One 5lbs and 2 around 3lbs. Here's hoping next year produces better results.

Cheers
