not sure how familiar you are with capitalism, however, no one is willing to put the money into research to make green energy more efficient without an attractive reason.
to make something "proven" you have to ..... ummm ..... try it before it can become proven.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with capitalism but what is happening with green energy production in Ontario has little to do with "capitalism." Attempting to FORCE the market to use windmill energy is not capitalism. Subsidizing the windmill builders and management companies is not capitalism. Heck, those actions wouldn't even be considered an aspect of socialism; it's more like a communist dictatorship. "We the government of Ontario know better than you my dear citizen, and we will tell you what you want and how you will live and behave and we will spend/waste the money we have taken from you cuz we know better." Rubbish!
The attractive reason to develop green energy is profit. The proper way to get to the best technology and the best efficiency is to promote competition between firms for that profit. To pick one firm and subsidize them and force them on the paying population is anything but capitalistic and in the long run will be terribly inefficient and a waste of resources. See: The Soviet Union. Subsidize research and R&D programs... now you might be on to something.
To your final point, ask the majority of homeowners on Wolfe Island and Amherst Island about how "welcomed" wind energy is. I think you will find that it is not. Ask anyone who wants to drive long distances or tow something if electric cars are a good buy. I think you will find they are not. Also, those electric cars get the energy to store from hydro. Hydro in Ontario is mainly from coal or oil burns. Plug in your car, increase the use of fossil fuels. Not to mention the 1000% increase in the number of batteries that will now be hitting the landfill. And on and on...
