Well I'm back in Brazil and spending the summer, (winter) here. So I went out fishing with one of my co-workers today at a lake about an hour away. He caught a Pacu which is a member of the piranha family and another fish that was a spectacular jumper.

My first fish was this scappy little guy:

My second fish was this. And man, did this fight. The first run was so long and fast, I cut my finger on the line trying to slow it down when I realized I only had about 10 wraps left on the reel. Fortunately it decided that was far enough. After about half an hour of wondering what the heck was on the end of my line, I was finally able to grab it by the tail and have a look at him. After a couple of quick pics, he was back in the water leaving two Canadians grinning ear to ear.
It is called a Pintadillo, or tiger shovelnose catfish. I simply called him one cool cat!

Wow awesome cat. I'd love to see the pic of the pacu. I recall having those in my aquarium years back.

Sweet shovelnose catfish. !! Funny how one county's native fish species can become another's tropical fish in an aquarium lol and we wonder how there are so many invasive species all over the world.

Always gool to get into different species and fish where you have no idea what might be on the other end of your line!
