Hey guys,

I was looking at using my bass boat to pull the kids around the lake in a tube. Is there an easy way to set the boat up for that? How should I go about it?

I have looked at a few tow bars online but is there a way to do it that doesnt cost $500?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Shawn

On your transum do you have 2 tie down rings, you can buy a tow rope that attatches there that has a flot on it to keep it out of the prop.....here is the link....

Enjoy

When I had a bass boat, I bought a lower pitched prop for pulling the kids off the two back rings with the float on the rope. It worked, but really not that good. The rope drags in the water and sucks while cornering. I sold the bass boat for other reasons and got a fishing boat. It came with the 3 post tower for pulling and it is way better, even with half the HP of the other one. The rope doesn't drag in the water right behind the boat. If you can find the posts and set them up in your bass boat, it will make the day a lot nicer.

When I was trying to slow my trolling speed down using a drift sock, I wanted it straight off the back as not to effect steering so I fed a strong mooring dock line through one of those styrofoam noodles the kids use to play around with and stay afloat. (most come with hole right through the centre) I cut an opening halfway and made a loop knot with in the dock line to attach a tow rope. Then attached clips at both ends centering the noodle setup and to clippled onto the the transom rings. It kept the sock dead centre with enough slack to keep the line afloat behind the motor. The whole setup worked great...sold the boat with my little the sock setup, but now my new boat has a kicker. As luck would have it the noodle I used was orange...easy to see and remember I had it on!

Good luck.

We used to tube behind a Skeeter with a 150 and used exactly what Moose posted up. The rope will still catch a bit when getting on plane but no big deal . If you wanted to ski or wakeboard and needed to pop out of the water fast, than definitely go with a raised bar.

Ok thanks lads. it was more just for tubing for the kids, so I might pop in to crappy tire and check that out.
