Quinte Fishing

Laker John and I worked like demons all morning and part of the afternoon to get 'Superdad' cleaned and waxed and ready for the water.

We hauled the boat to Shermans launch and put the boat in the water (with some heavy waves), started ok ( just out of the shop - new plugs - tuneup etc)

Got away from the dock ok and headed to Picton Bay to pay a visit to Merland Park - had to see the newest BOQ fisher - Ty Michael. He's a sweetie.

Faced 2.5 - 3.0 foot waves on the way there and NO PROBLEM with the larger boat.

Here's what we saw.........

Shermans Launch - Dock in the water ready to go

McFarlanes Conservation Launch - No docks in the water, still waiting on shore - tough without the extra docks.

Hay Bay Old Church Launch - Dock in the water - Ready to Go.

We suspect BUT cannot confirm that the docks would be in at the East End of Hay Bay north launch ramp.

We're almost ready for Saturday, have to load the tackle and check the line counters.

If you get close - Yell REAL loud as the new motor ( 195 HP) is quite loud when running.

Reading your post about launching I thought I wuld pass on some observations from BC.

Most southern lakes below say 3,000 ft are ice free with generally poor launches compared to the Bay of Quinte area (this is neither a positive nor a complaint....just what I observe). The best boat launches seem to be on the largest bodies of water like the Okanogan, Shuswap, and surprisingly have these mega waterski boats.

At higher elevations like Kootenay Pass where I was driving through yesterday, there was a heck of a lot of snow still in the bush (a few feet). Ice was still observed on lakes, but beginning to crystalize prior to breaking up.

The Fraser River is high with very little snowpack if any to note to draw from, making for an extremely questionable summer.

Just some observations from a different part of Canada.....and yes....the Bay of Quinte area is still home.
