Just out this evening on the Cowichan River here on Van. Island.
It,s a year round fishery with bait ban and single barbless required.Mostly small rainbow and cutthroats right now. Big problem with bait fishers cleaning out my fav. pools. Can,t decide whether to rat them out or not.
When in the Quinte area I fish for many species with the fly rod, particularly fun is the Moira River for smallmouth on mickey finn streamers.

I play around with flyfishing, and enjoy it to varying degrees.

The Salmon R., Napanee R. both have some neat sections, with the falls in Napanee often holding a few trout or salmon on a seasonal basis. Cold Cr. is a place I have wanted to explore, but alas it has not happened. North of Napanee there is a considerable amount of lakes and a few streams near Denbigh and Ompah that have trout best fished in the spring....before the blackflies and after ice out.

There is a flyfishing club in Kingston and one in the Belleville area (Cold Cr. Club). Hopefully in time I will get to be back in the area on a permanent basis. The fishing opportunitys are so varied and offer an interesting mix.

can't wait till the moira slows down so it's wadeable, I'm gonna go for gar as well. they look like fun, only thing I didn't like was someone told me they start to roll when you catch them and get wrapped up (tapered leaders are expensive!!)

mickey finns for bass, :) hmmmmmm.. you know I think I'll try that, july seems so far away. :(

I just tried napanee waterfall on saturday, lots of fun, some big silver fish took a swipe at my nymph in the rapids but got away (salmon maybe??)

Hi hoser
If you have the chance there is a couple of fun stretches of river in: Napanee R. at Newburgh (just downstream in town), and the Salmon R. between Forest Mills and downstream to Lonsdale. Just an idea....nothing huge but it is a lot of fun.
