Just tuned up the ice auger and went through all my rods and put on new line plus the ice shack is set up in my driveway with a lawn chain and a tv in it lol wife says im nuts

Yup, just bought an ION auger, and like you, can't wait to haul the clam out on the ice. If I had a boat, I would still be thinking about FISHING on the hard stuff.... its still fishing. Anyway, you aren't crazy... just enthusiastic about the sport of fishing!

Yup,it's never to late or early to think about hard water...just change some Power Pro off bait caster and put some of the bottom end of spool on ice rods,got some new ice auger blades at yard sale for 8" not even open for 6 bucks :D
