Hey Everyone,

I am new to the board and fishing the bay in general. This has been the first year I have really spent much time on the lake (about 6-7 trips) I usually fish Rice lake and the kawarthas. Needless to say I am a smallie fanatic, not a huge walleye guy. I am not asking for specific spots or waypoints to your favorite areas, but I have been stumped trying to find the smallies without heading to lake ontario, even so I am not too comfortable on the big lake to go out there often. Considering the depth around the glenora ferry I figured we should be able to find some near the picton bay areas and adulphus reach. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find the smallmouth? I always end up giving up after a 6-7 hours and catch some largemouth for fun on our way back to the ramp.

If I can trade any advice/areas for those wanting to catch bass/walleye on rice lake I would gladly do an exchange.

Thanks!

I would think Keith's Shoal
should hold some. Try the Trent though there is lots there!

I think I know where you mean, it's pretty close to lake O off pryners point? thanks for the idea we will have to try that again. Do smallies school up anywhere closer to belleville or trenton? We have fished the trent before it can be good fun, but wanted to see if we could locate them on the lake.

Its just east of the ferry. I'm not a smallmouth fisherman but I think Long Reach has some likely looking spots too. Its pretty shallow closer to Belleville in Trenton. . I'm not sure sorry.

i think we will launch out of picton and give that a try, any other areas around picton worth scouting out for smallies? What can I expect to find around the cement plant and the picton harbour?

The bay itself isn't the greatest smallmouth habitat...there are some spots that hold fish, but my best luck has come in the Trent and Moira rivers.

Is any part of Moira accessible by boat? (from the bay in)

Depends on how brave you are...but for the most part, no. I just walk and wade to fish it.
