My weekend consisted of nothing but shore fishing, since I don't own my own boat and my buddies wasn't preped and ready to go in time. Fished from Miers Pier from 12 AM Sat till about 4:30 AM. Skunked all night long using Jigs, Rapala's, Worms, minnows etc.

Tried back around 2 PM Sat until approx 11 PM Fishing Miers Pier again, and Victoria Park, managed 3 Cat Fish about 11 perch, and a few Gobis, and my biggest catch of the day was a 15 lbs DEAD Walleye I accedentally snagged off bottom down at Miers Pier.

My brother inlaw and I put in at 5:00am, 1 rock bass around 8:00am, I hit a small pike around 1:00pm. Other than that nothing. We tried everything but the kitchen sink. Gave up at about 3:00pm Oh well, at least I have all my gear ready for the open on scugog.

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work!

As stated before, the BOQ is way overrated for pickerel now. It certainly isn't the productive fishery it was in the 80's. You can blame the zebra mussels, natives, commercial fishery, slot sizes, environment, gobies, etc.....since we've all heard it before. What they need to do is stock more pickerel in the bay to get it back to where it used to be.

Until then, I'll stay in my own backyard and not waste over $100 to catch the same thing that I can catch in the ravine behind my house. I'd rather work than get nothing.....thank goodness for SALMON!!!!!!!

Fished the Trent river from Fri. midnite to Sat. 11:00 am. My partner and I got 3 small males apiece on rapalas and in the morning I got 4 more jigging (fuzzy grubs 1/2 oz). Sunday am fished the river again with 2 others in the boat and I caught 1 @ approx. 7 lbs. Grand total for my boat 11 walleyes, all were males. Females were long gone. Not a great opener for me, however, judging from the conversations with people out on the river, and what we witnessed, we were fortunate to have caught what we did.

Tightlines,

Davo

That was a great day for you. Especially concidering I talked to a ton of boats on Saturday and only 2 of them mentioned catching anything.

You must have been on a feeding school :)

congrats!

Your right about that RangerGuy 8O any pictures? We like pictures. I marked lots of fish deep but no takers. Talked to many many boats with hardly any results expect pike. I hope the fishing turns around when the water gets a little warmer.

Our group didn't do too well and ended up with 3 pike, 2 large mouth 4 & 5 lber (released of course) a bunch of perch and mudcat, and a few losses.

Well, at least we had a pike feed Saturday night.

Any ideas of the why the amount of dead sheeps head? Where we were, there were tons of them. Some of them were alive but unable to stay down. One of them someone netted from shore to take a closer look... it looked like it was bleeding internally.

We saw the MNR out on Saturday afternoon. I don't think they were talking to people but maybe counting the amount of dead fish in the bays.

Thoughts?

CHEERS!

Fished Hay bay/Ram Island/Shermans point friday night through Sunday. Minnow/Worms, Shad Raps, HJ's at night, CC shad, everything tried, 0 walleye. Our boat landed 1 small pike and about 10 Large mouth (all released of course). Saw tonnes of dead sheephead/and or dying sheephead in the bay? I'll be back for the long weekend

Adding to my previous post after reading the last few, we saw many dead fish in the waters off Deseronto, some sheepshead but the majority were carp, all about 8-15 lbs as well as just a few mid sized walleye,3-5lbs.I figure we saw 40-50 dead fish in this area, and almost nothing to the south in the Picton Harbor/ Glenora/deep water areas. Maybe the warm spell did some shock damage to them soon after the spawn?????I have no idea, but they didn't have anything obvious like puncture marks or prop marks. We did also see 2 good sized Drum/Sheepshead thrashing on the surface,in some kind of distress and unable to swim below the surface.
Thanks, John

The majority that were around us were dying and also couldn't make it off of the surface. Of course, the seagulls were having a fine feast.

It would be good to know what's doing it.....Dan, if you could post any finding in your latest topic, that would be great.

CHEERS!
