DO WALLEYE EVER SLEEP???

The Discussion Board tends to slow down during the summer months, so I thought I'd throw this topic out there for some fun before the Fall action starts to heat up. (which I think has already happened)
We all know that Walleye feed typically at night.
We also know that many fish are caught during the day year round, and most tournaments are held during the daytime hours, where many fish are caught.
So......does anybody really know....
Do Walleye ever sleep??????

I believe they do. The last one I had in the pan was dead asleep.

I believe they do too just when I'm asleep, because I catch them everytime I go out

Weell, I guess they do at times. Usually when I fish for them! Have tried hollering really loud (anquish?) at times with mixed results. This deserves some real scientific research to be sure, things like length of holler, tone, frequency and decible level, not to mention vocabulary...

Yes as a matter of fact they do. Often they over sleep and don't make it to the SCHOOL. Yea it's lame I know but all I could think of... LoL

I think the ones I mark on my fish finder are definitely sleeping.

Yes fish sleep. But it’s not sleep as we know it. They don’t have eyelids to close, they sometimes do it during the day, they don’t show the characteristic brainwave patterns like REM sleep seen in humans, and some, including most sharks have to keep swimming in their sleep. At this time the fish's heart rate slows down and they become unconscious, moving only enough to stay still within the water.
It is interesting how sometimes whole schools seem to be sleeping then whole schools turn on. Don't we love it when the whole school turns on. lol And then when they don't it is trying to fugure them out....Cheers,
