Anyone know if Navionics will work on the new Mini Ipad or any other tablet besides Apple’s?

I saw the App for 14.99. Does that work for quinte as it is or do you have to upgrade after buying the app?

It should be noted that an iPad mini without cell capability doesn't have an internal gps. The app is still nice for research though.

Thanks Two Four, thought I read it somewhere about it not having an internal GPS but couldn't find it again. Guess the mini is out than.
Thanks
Tim

I had a similar thought with using an ipod touch and downloading the new precision trolling app into it. Wonder if that would work as I dont have an iphone

You can use a mini but it has to be a cellular equipped model. I don't think the cellular part has to be active though. You can download the map @ home on wifi. The cell models are the ones that have the gps built in to keep track of where you are on he map.

I have the iPad, 3G, not cellular and the GPS function is awesome. I use navronics, google maps and several other apps that make use of the GPS function
Cheers Rob

I've thought of an iPad 3G with Navionic app+GPS but if I am gonna take it with me in the boat, is there a waterproof case to keep the unit dry?

3g is cellular.
Non-cellular units are the Wifi only ones.

As stated above yes it will work to display the map, but without an active data (cellular/3g) your GPS location will not be shown.
The new P-T-D app is awesome for both ipad/iphone.
I use my iPad3 for both during the fall for trolling, and Navionics with my iPhone for hardwater.
Those apps are def worth their weight in "gold" (pun intended).

That is the right app. Better of to get the lifetime version. Seems expensive but well worth it if you spend a lot of time on the water

Yup, that's the one.
$1.99/lure is fantastic considering the price of the books....
I only use a handful of cranks in the fall, so spending $10-20 is much better than having to buy the whole book to only use a few pages.
