Hey folks , being on Tapatalk on a smart phone , the search feature doesn't seem to work so being on the market for a top of the line floatation suit for both comfort and safety , I was wondering if someone could send a link on a topic I'm sure has been done a few times in regards of brand and if 1 or 2 peice is the way to go . Hoping to not make the wrong purchase so want to get it right the first time . Thanks in advanced.

I'm shopping for a newsuit also, but I'm going to wait and talk to the manufacturers at the Toronto Boat show to find out when and if they are making a survival suit in the best colour to be seen on or in the water.

The results of a recent survey indicate that Chartruese is the best colour to be spoted in.

Chartreuse is the most visable color to the human eye. Myself and many of my fellow fisherman use the Fladen 2 piece suit, they do make a one piece as well. Great suits, Grizz has the same suit on but in orange and blue. Google it and you can order it out of Europe for usually cheaper than you can buy one locally. Very warm and comfy suit, with plenty of pocket and built in whistle.

I have the Helly Hansen Delta 2 and am quite happy with it.
Quite warm & Transport Canada approved.
Approval means two things.
1. It's been tested and proven to work as a flotation device.
2. If used in a boat it counts as your floatation device. Unapproved ones require a separate approved PFD that fits you as dressed. Hard to find an approved PFD to fit over an unapproved 2 XL suit in my case.

know from bitter experience the only way to go is a one piece suit. the main purpose of the suit is to delay the onset of hypothermia, that's why we call them survival suits. the two piece suit bells once your in the water and holds it next to your body. while no suit will keep you dry once your in the one piece will give you a lot more time before hypothermia sets in. if you've ever been on the water and have seen the coast guard out there on a search and rescue one piece is all they wear. that said the other piece of advice that I give on this subject is it's your life your talking about, buy the best approved suit you can afford.

I also have the Mustang Integrity MS 195HX suit, and it's great. 1 piece. No problem takin a leak...lol I believe the Helly Hansens are floation only, while the Mustang Integrity HX is survival and floatation. I was lookin at both brands at Sail in Oshawa last week, and there was about $160 difference in price. I believe that is the reason why.

Just to add...I find when I'm on the ice doing a lot of walking and drilling holes, the 1 piece suit can kinda get a bit wet inside from sweat. I don't take a lot of chances on thin ice...lol so I probably could've got away with a 2 piece, but on the other hand, the 1 piece was great on the boat for warmth and safety.

I have the Helly Hansen suit. I bought it at LeBarons in Markham two years ago. Very nice and comfortable. It has the bright yellow( chartreuse) hood on it. I have the one piece but I'm willing to fish thin ice. If you're only comfortable with fishing safe ice then I would go with a two piece if you fish out of a hut. Reason being you can take he jacket off inside otherwise the jacket bunches up behind you and is very uncomfortable after a few hours. As for taking a leak, you have to undo and pull off the top part of the suit to piss. Hope this helps a bit.

I just ordered a Striker Ice Predator suit friday from their website and found out the detials on the brokerage and GST from another forum...:(

hopefully the suit is worth the cost, I almost ordered the wife the Prism suit, I think I'll wait and see how she goes. Great opportunity for a local business to get involved in................... if the suits are as good as I think they are.

I made some inquires about the suits Landshark and Grizz are wearing
Fladen 2 piece Floatation Suits 846/847, they are £119.99 (196.78 CAD) , they still haven't gotten back to me about shipping but I will post that when I hear more. If I do order one it might be cheaper shipping if a few were ordered , anyone interested send me a pm and I will let you know when I get more info.
