Depends on where/what you fish for......

Kawartha's/Quinte/Simcoe/St. Lawrence/Lake O... etc. All are vastly different bodies of water.

Bass/Walleye/Panfish/Pike/Musky/Trout/Salmon???

Casting/Trolling/Jigging???

What type of boat to get is a pretty open ended question without knowing where you'll use it the most.

If you are heading east (from the Ferry towards the Gap it is going to be on your right side) ..Prinyers Cove is the closest spot to put in (I think) ..You can also put in beside the ferry and boat up to it ..not that long of a boat ride .... I've always wondered what the Bat Cave is ... my Buddy thought it might be some sort of Military Installation ... or does a private landowner there have too much money and built it to store his boats ?

If you're only going to use it a few times a year on Quinte, then I'd recommend a 16+ft deep-V aluminum boat.
The deeper the better to handle the rough stuff that the Bay can stir up but still small enough to get to where you need to for the Kawartha's.
Grab some planer boards, deep diving cranks, trolling rods/reels and some rod holders and you're all set for Quinte.
