Quinte Fishing

Growing up in Montreal in the 70's was great. Fish were plentyfull in the St.Lawrence & Richelieu rivers. Going home with a stringer of perch, rock bass & pike to eat was very common. One NHL playerwho I always enjoyed to watch was Bobby Hull. During an intermission segment when Chicago was playing Montreal, he was the player being interviewed. When asked how he trained in the off season, he replied that he had a farm on the Bay of Quinte and enjoyed fishing there. Does anyone, who is a long time resident, recall him being in the Picton area in the summer months? Could he still have a farm in the county? Whatever happened to the good 'ol rock bass? I haven't seen one for years. Pound for pound they fought harder that any other fish that I've caught. Where would be the best area for perch fishing in the BOQ? Also, who are some NHL'ers that are from Picton or BOQ area? Past & present. I'm just after some pan fish for my table.

As of ten years ago, the Hull family still owned land in PE County. He would occasionally have breakfast at a restaurant a relatives wife worked at. I have never formally met the man, but do admire both he and his son...and brother Dennis hockey accomplishments.

As for Rock Bass, they are still around. I do not know what the population is like, given that my work has me a couple of thousand miles away at present.

Yellow perch are a wonderful fish. Hmmmm.......I have no area to suggest in that regard, but do believe that they are far and away under appreciated.

Yes Bobby still owns property in the County on Big Island. He is still a frequent visitor all year but you will see him mainly in the summer months. He drops in and says hello almost every trip. If Bob is in town you'll likely find him at the Waring House for dinner and cocktails.. He is a great man! You'll know he is in the room by his laugh!

He took a charter with our boat back in the mid 90's for salmon. Hands on the man like a giant!!!
