It may not have all the "bells and whistles" as some of the higher end models, but bottom line is that it will mark fish. If that's what you can afford, then go for it.

I have had my 35 bird for 4 years now, works great and battery holds charge for long periods.

Good luck on the ice

For depth, i can mark lake trout fine at 110 ft on wide beam. Its a great unit for the money.

I have one! Works pretty good. I fish simcoe in deep water 120ft and it has a hard time picking up my lure at anything below 90 but other than that it works good! Bought mine last February and I have been out 8 or so times for the day, and I'm finally charging my battery today! Battery is great! Cheers!!

I have had mine prob 6 years . . . the first year they came out with them. Works great, it is used mostly on simcoe perching and quinte/stoco for walleye.

Its great for lakers and whitefish, but as mentioned it sucks beyond 4x power. about 90 ft.

had my ice 55 for 4 years now. great for walleye, or anything else in shallower waters, but I find on deep 60+ feet water (Simcoe Whities) you don't get near the clarity, even on zoom.

something else I learned the hard way. If you are on a steep incline, the sonar will 'bury' your lure in the structure for the bottom 1 or 2 feet, so it's useless. wish Humminbird could of told me that when I inquired into the problem, but I did figure it out eventually.
