Who would have thought a Raccoon could catch a Rabbit?

I setup a trail cam on my property pointed at a pile of corn and apples. I've had everything from Grouse to Coyotes there. This week I go up to pull the card and I see hair and blood on the ground. I figured a Fox or Coyote has gotten one of the many Rabbits I've had at the feed. To my surprise when going through the pics it was a Raccoon that caught and ate the Rabbit. I know Raccoons are meat eaters but I had no idea they had the ability to catch a Rabbit.

Pretty cool to catch it on film like that. They can be tenacious critters, I lost 20 chickens in one night to them after they busted through the chicken coop.

Big-time predators........I lost turkey to racoons in years past, very opportunistic animals. Don't let many walk when I see them, Racoons responsible for most duck , goose and wild turkey nest raids during the breeding season. No different than a coyote in my books.

Wonder what they would do to the cormorant population if they ended up stranded on one of the affected islands.....

My understanding from a previous post is quite well.
A few were put on an island infested with cormorants and they did
Not swim to shore until they had visited every nest.

Question

We had a large male swan killed near my place last May. Something during the night did the dastardly deed. The only parts left were the ribs cage and feathers. Also the head was missing.

Ideas?

Hard to say on the swan...could have been any predator.

I have heard in the past that weasels are known to eat the heads of their pray, but a whole swan seams like a big meal. Maybe a fisher, but probably a coyote.
