Looking at these boats. Some thoughts. Please help.

Anyone else been either of these boats. I am torn. I am thinking the Lund will
Be better.

Lund for sure! great big water boat. Tyee was our second boat choice but we went with the Smoker craft.

I'll start by stating I am a Lund guy, on my 3rd one and each an upgrade from the previous. When the new Lund Crossover came out in 2012 I went with that rig over the Tyee. Mainly because it can easily be converted back to that family cruiser/ski boat from a fishing rig which was the deal I made with the "Finance Department" (Kids and Grandkids and all). I elected to go with the 150hp and a factory installed 9.9 Kicker as opposed to the trolling motor up front and glad I did. I have way more hours on the trolling motor than the main engine. Size, Power and deep V hull design has saved me from many snotty situations which I tend to get myself into. Lund is very creative on storage and I liked the rod storage compartment the Crossover has.
The Whitesquall that hit Quinte a few falls ago, left many scrambling for cover...we managed to for the most part fish through it, or at least give us the security of finding calmer waters.

Also a hotly contested topic, I prefer the aluminum hull vs. glass...not sure what the Statos is. This was a life saver in my previous boat (Lund 1650 Rebel) when I hit a partially submerged deadhead a WOT. It scarfed the hull deeply just below the water line and the guy who came to look at it to repair simply said; "It's a Lund, if it doesn't leak...leave it alone. If you were in a glass boat you would have been swimming back to shore".

I took possession of the boat and immediately experienced some cavitation issues to find out the Marina I bought it from had improperly water tested and it required an adjustment to the engine setup and prop pitch. Dealing with the Lund Customer service department was in short "amazing". They took care of everything including finding me the closest marina to do the service work...they have even followed up not once but twice!

battle of the fiber glass fish n ski... i would check out rod locker sizes and finer details like that and make sure it meets your needs.
Both have good casting decks, places to mount rods.

buy the one that allows you to rig it with a suzuki, yamaha, or honda.

both boats are nice.

I agree with Steve on the motor choice. We picked the 150 four stroke Yamaha and it has been awesome!

many new boat owners don't consider the value of the motor....

too often I hear, "well, I bought my merc because it was the only option for this boat...."

it should be the other way around.

Thanks guys. What's wrong with mercs. My old motor was good.

They all have their good points, love my 90 four stroke Merc, will only own merc

nothing wrong with mercs. i always say, anything that gets you on the water is better than nothing.

I was told Mercs were now built by Yamaha, is this not true?
