Hi,

As the title suggests, I am thinking about adding an autopilot over the winter. I understand that with a Verado there are limited options for autopilot models. Also, i understand that some APs are better for slow speed trolling than others. Anyone have any experience with this?

Not sure how high the bow sits above the water line but having owned a Garmin Tr1 and now a bow mount minn Kota with ipilot, I'd try the bow mount if it works.

Prob a 36v 112lb for that boat and you'll be set. I find it much better to control steering from the bow vs the stern

That's what I'm running now. Great for bass fishing or open water trolling when the wind is down. But, I'm wanting an AP I can use when it's too windy for that (which is a lot of the time), or trolling faster for salmon.

I used my Terrova for salmon a few times. Worked great. I just push with my kicker motor and use it to steer. U could do same with vrod, smart gauges make trolling amazing on that motor

Simrad is the way to go and the Simrad AP24 is the perfect choice for you're boat. What sonargps are you running?
