Hi guys
1st annual Pro Tackle's Ba, Ba, Big Sheep Challenge
Here we go.....May 14th! Mark this date on your Calendar,
Afternoon event. (time is yet to be determined) We all know the rush that we get when we catch a Sheephead, here we go...this is the best time of the year to catch them. The fish get stacked in deeper water. The numbers are insane... Last year we had evenings where we caught 60 to 100 of them just simply by jigging. Plus there are 20lbers to be caught (next world record)?
We are going to set this up as a charity event. Proceeds after payouts will be going Cops and Kids! This is going to be a fun event!
Details: (still work in progress)
We have looked into renting the dock at the rossmore boat launch. There is going to be a large sign on the dock that will have to register the weight of the 3 largest sheephead. Cash payouts to only the 3 largest sheeps, We are not weighing every fish! Please weigh or estimate your catch. if you think its larger then whats posted.....bring it in. There will be also an up to date online of weights so that you don't have to come to the docks.
All federal/provincial boating and fishing regulations must be adhered to. No alcohol of drugs allowed. Must wear Life jackets under power
As for Payouts?? (still working out the fine details) any suggestions? We are thinking $50 a person. (everyone in the boat must buy a ticket) (is $50 to high)? I would like to give cops and kids at least $900
Example: If we had 50 anglers? at $50 per person. Total is $2500 Out of the $2500 we lose $700 to operating cost (insurance/launch area rental etc.) Now we are down to $1800. If we payout $500 for 1st, $300 to 2nd, $100 for 3rd. That leaves us with $900 left to donate to Cops and Kids.
We may get up to 100 anglers....which would be awesome to see. We could change the payouts and or donation to Cops and kids to be higher??
If you guys have some suggestions? we appreciate any feedback. Lets have some fun with this.

The following pictures of some of the sheephead action that we had last spring. What a RUSH, using spinning rods and jigging with 8lb. mono with ice fishing spoons. These fish are strong!
