I'm wondering if anyone knows someone who could wire up my boat for two scotty 1116 electric downriggers, I'm looking to get a plug on each side installed and wired up to the battery and include all fuses and wires. I'd like a nice clean and correct install done of it, which I feel I wouldn't be able to accomplish on my own.

When I installed my riggers, I used a good power bar with a circuit breaker attached. I cut the plug end off and installed the correct size fuse inline and battery terminal connections. Then connected this to the battery. When I wanted to remove the riggers, I just unplugged from the power bar.

Can't remember now, that was 30 years ago....LOL but it would have been what the riggers called for (Big Jon Captain pacs). Probably no larger than 6 or 8 amp. Never had a problem with them (other than normal maintenance such as depth counter springs, roller guides and new cable every three or four years) and I used them a lot over the next 20 years.

30 amp, Scotty sells them. In fact Scotty sells all the components needed for an install, short of the butt connectors. If you buy the fuses and plugs from Scotty, get some good 10 or 12 guage marine wire, some appropriate size heat-shrink butt connectors, and a good crimping tool, then you can do it yourself in an hour.

What kind of boat?

I have a 2014 176 StarCraft, I was looking at all the scotty components, looks like they even sell 12 guage 2 conductor downrigger power wire, is that something you would recommend or should I just go somewhere local (Kingston area) and buy some?? its $2 a foot where I'm looking at it on amazon.

I usually buy that kind of stuff at marine outfitters, they have 2-conductor 12 guage for 1.39/ft according to the website. That size boat 12 guage should be fine. The wire scotty sells via amazon should be good too.

I'm no expert but have wired my own Scotty's. I work in K town. PM me if you'd like some help.
Will work for beer. ;)
