Congrats on that fish. It sounds like you are doing things right. My only advice is just to keep playing cat and mouse with them and eventually they will charge up

Brian,. Maybe try a spoon like a buckshot tipped with a couple minnows through the head. Are ya marking them ? If you are using a flasher just stay off the bottom with your bait and then keep teasing them and pulling it away. At some point they will charge up as you pull it away. The further you get them off the bottom the more likely they are to crush it because it means that fish turned agressive

I have Lowrance I just got that doubles as an Ice flasher/graph. But can't seem to get the settings right to mark my lure. Had a guy help me change some last night so hopefully that helps. I'll try a buckshot/pimple next time I'm out. Never fished with spoons what's a good size/colour?

What model of Lowrance is it? I believe most Lowrance models have a ice fishing mode

Getting that flasher/graph dialed in would be my #1 priority. See if youtube can help, bring the manual out on the ice with you, find someone out the ice that can help, whatever it takes.

Winner, How are you deciding where to drill your holes? If you are not using a Hydrographic GPS app on your smartphone like the majority of anglers now use, you are at a disadvantage. I use Navionics on my iPhone every time I am on the ice. I’ve been using it for many years now. You can pinpoint trough, points and humps. I know it helps me catch more fish. If you already have a smartphone you can purchase and install the Navionics app for $20. BATMAN

I bought the ice fishing kit for my Lowrance elite 5 from radio world. Model Pp18i I believe. You can set your sonar to ice mode. Works great.

Lmao my goodness. Honestly, you probably just need to find someone who knows how to fish quinte to take you out. That way you won't be wasting time fishing dead water. I heard Thompsons point, the power cables at huffs and Deseronto for the evening nibs is good.

I use the same fish finder and it works great set it to ice fishing mode and turn on your amplitude scope. You don't need a lot of sensitivity either maybe 55-60% depending on depth. If it is set up right depending on the lure you're using you can distinguish your minnow from your lure. Good luck

I have my sensitivity set around midn60:s and I can see the swivel tied up 3' above the lure.

Nobody mentioned current yet?

Maybe his lure is simply disappearing off in the direction of the current?

(This assumes that's part of problem, if he's having problems seeing what's going on with the bait. That finder works fine in ice mode.)
