Spent the long weekend out on the water and the fishing was tough! Caught a few walleye each day but the fishing was definitely off. Small walleye, drum, perch and bowfin were all willing to play it was the 3lb plus walleye that were MIA. Trolled the intersection of hay bay and long reach where they typically are at this time of year but it was a grind. Guys were getting small fish on the bouncers , worms and harnesses but the silver bass and perch were relentless. Switched over to searching for weed beds and snap jigging hair jigs. Picked up a couple fish but had to cover a lot of ground. Saw lots of schools of baitfish. This morning I fished big bay and was surprised to see one of the charter boats that runs out of Picton make the long run down, what does that tell ya about the fishing in hay bay. Hopefully things turn around soon. Good luck out there

Talked to some fishers on Monday, when I was launching out of the Church and nothing was caught by anyone.

Went out anyways to enjoy the beautiful weather and after no luck, changed to jigging for sheephead.

I had to chase this one before it spooled me...

Sorry for the late posting for long weekend. Saturday was a bust with that southeast wind. Fished Sunday evening on Long Reach 10’ to 12’ with some deep weeds. Got three in about an hour, uzick and similar got them. Didn’t fish Monday had to go home for the Neil Young concert.

From what I observed Dan, the gizzard shad arrived about 3 weeks early in front of my place. I am certain most walleyes in the 3lb range had indigestion as they were stuffed.

The lower water levels hasn't helped the cause either IMO.
