Shore fishing at night

I'm making my first trip to the Bay of Quinte for some shore fishing one night next week. Looking for any advice as to where would be the best location to fish from shore? I was thinking of heading to either Belleville or Picton (coming from the Kitchener area).

Hi Bassguy,

First of all let me be the first to welcome you to the Quinte Fishing Board. As for shore fishing I have been informed that Myer's Pier in Belleville is producing walleye both during the day and at night, using various crank baits. Some of the ones that have been producing are deep diving rapalas, some reef runners, yo-zuri's and lately the hottest lure catching walleye are
Renosky Mirror Image Deep Diver in Firetiger clours.

Our store has sold out of them quickly and if you can find some get the Firetiger colour with blood red hooks. Presently any deep diver in the firetiger colour seems to be doing extremely well.

Another spot at night is on the pier in Picton.

Thanks very much for the info. I'll definitely try and pick up one of the Renosky lures before heading out. Is Myers Pier the main pier in Belleville?

Also try under the Belleville bridge.. I stopped by last night on our way home from Picton and saw a few anglers there.. Spoke with one and he said they have been doing well with cranks every week he's been there..

Funny thing as no one had any live bait..

If your heading to Picton best bring your elbow pads. i was there the other night and it was fairly busy. On the dock nect to the boat launch there were 5 or 6 people, and on the dock to the west(?)(the left as your looking at the water) there were another 5 or 6. And there were still people pulling up to fish and wait for a spot.

It was an interesting day today fishing on the Bay. One of my employees Glen Hales was fishing at Myer's Pier this evening after work from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and he stated that there were approximately 20 people at the pier and did not see any fish being caught.

I went to Picton and it was busy with boats from the Quinte Fishing Tournament and not many fishing from the docks and I am sure that would have changed once everybody from the tournament came in by 9:00 pm. I spent quite a bit of time at Merland Park and saw a few walleyes come in and very good size ones. Most of them being caught in the reach. I will not let you know what the weights were so that I do not spoil any reports from the regular posters from the tournament etc. I am confident that Dan will probably post the results and how many entered the tournament etc.

On the way to Picton I noticed approximately 25 boats in the narrows fishing and I do not have any results as of yet from the people that I know that were fishing the narrows.

I then went to Belleville bridge and saw 6 people fishing from the bridge and they were not catching anything. There were 3 boats also fishing the bridge area and a couple of 4 lbs were being caught.

Being that the weather was warm and an excellent day for fishing the numbers of people fishing on a weekend from shore was not excessive at all. There seemed to not be any complications whatsoever and receiving reports from Glen at the pier and my own obeservations at the other spots I would say all we are waiting for is for the walleye to co-operate and hit our lures.
