Went out in search of crappies yesterday with Spox and Quinte Prince. It didn't take long for some of us :D to land a few slabs for the dinner table. Next thing I know Prince switched gears  and went into Walleye mode. After landing a 4-5lb beauty and loosing 2 other hogs with one giving Spox a wink and a smile  before getting off the little jig. We decided to release the walleye along with several crappies and only keeping enough for Princes uncle Desi to try. Had a great day as usual with the guys and had lots of laughs. Cant wait to do it again.
P.S. Spox did make a come back late in the 4th quarter and landed a big slab. :D

Great day boys on the ice. The Wizzard and Prince were on fire, leaving me scratching my head. Oh well we all have those days. Sitting 20ft from a person using the same lure and not catching anything. Oh well just good to be out on a nice day with good buddies.

Wow over 180 views and the only post comes from one of the guys that were fishing that day...lol. Seems like a big waste of time up loading pictures and sharing a success story for one lousy comment. Wont bother wasting my time again.

Thanks for the comments guys and yes crappie lakes are very sacred. I just figured putting up a post is what this form is somewhat about. The chance of offering the fishing grounds will be slim to none, but sharing some techniques and suggestions on where to find them in the lake your are fishing is realistic. Another reason for putting up the posts are to share the success that a few good friends experienced. :) This was Quinte Prince first time crappie fishing and his first ever crappie, and everyday that Spox can catch a fish :o deserves a post with pictures also...lol. Just kidding Chris. :D Sorry if I sounded like I was whining  but just felt that the post deserved a little more attention.
Thanks Jason 8)

There are fishers reading this and drooling at the thoughts of fried crappie, some people would sell their soul for the info about the day pan-fish fishing.

Some anglers I know prefer crappie over walleye.

Nice to see that QP is getting a rounded education about the various fishes available.

See you on the water

Jason, I hear ya buddy..what gets me boggled up is when I post a report, I get commented by lets say 8 ppl and then my PM inbox has twice as many ppl then the post saying nice report etc and asking for tips, locations etc that didn't even post on the report. oh well  . Thanks for taking me out for my first Crappie bud..that walleye colours were so much different then the bay's, alot darker! simply beautiful :D

Thanks Jason, I know your joking but my luck will change soon. As for QP, that certainly was a great fish, but the one that was lost at the hole was a nice one as well :) . Atleast we got a chance to see it (or I did anyway). I just hope that people appreciate the posts and pictures as this is what this site is all about.

I agree that people won't give away hotspots but it is nice to share info on techniques and water depth ect. I have found this site very informative and look forward to seeing more posts in the future.

Jason and Aadil I know how much work goes into the posts, downlaoding photos, and writing the report so for that I say thanks. Great job guys and keep up the good work. I have enjoyed each outing and look forward to continue to get out and catch "a couple of fish" (in my case :? ). Thanks again guys talk to you soon.

I hope to catch at least ONE (!) uno, eintz. fish just one. one really really really big one........ like a 15 pound walleye, or a 12 pound pike, or a 2 pound perch . you know. just one..... thats not alot to ask for is it?

Another great day fishing, man.... I gotta get out there soon, before I start twitchin` !!!!
Do you guys get them on spoons or jigs? I get em in Scugog but only 4-6 feet of water so its harder for me to target them elsewhere. There is no rules on Scugog if you know what I`m saying, average depth of 4 feet so what you learn there you can`t really apply elsewhere.
I always enjoy your clans posts from the eyes on Quinte to the back lake crappie, just jealous... oh know starting tooo twwwitttchhh!
Keep it up boys, and some day I`ll see you out there. Maybe just maybe I will pack an extra pb and j sandwich for Spox. lol :)

Teppy, we use small MR. Champs and small buckshot rattles. We use 1 small minnow hooked "sideways" which is the key !!! As for depths all lakes are different. Look for live weeds and deep water adjacent to them. Fill your auger up and start drilling holes. You may have to drill 20-50 holes before you find them but once you do its well worth the work. Be sure to try all depths and be sure to recheck holes that are not producing just in case they move to those areas. Keep in mind that the time of day also verys depending on the lakes clarity of water. This could also affect the time of day you get your fish. Most lakes tend to be good either really early in the morning or best after dark. The biggest tip I can give you is invest in a fish finder and have faith in it. With out the today's electronics they would be almost impossible to target. Good luck.... Jason
