My boat wont troll slow enough. It will only get 3.5 - 4 mph. I bought a big drift sock and i can get down to 1.8 which is not bad for the big lake. For walleye i would probably have to drop a pail or something to get a bit slower. It is fairly hard to contol the boat though. I have it tied to the bow eye. I tried one of the clears but it pulls to that side too hard. I wonder if 2 smaller bags off the bow or mid cleats would give meet more control? Im not willing to spend the money on trim tabs or a plate. Nor do i want to drill holes.

I've tried drift socks before. 1 off each side, off the front, off the back. Never did like them. I don't think a trolling plate would cost much more than 2 socks. Was looking at one a couple of months ago for about $130 I've never heard anything bad about about the plates either.

Just a thought

I don't want to drill holes in my brand new outdrive though.. its a four winns fish and ski so for resale holes are a red flag for buyers.

you could try using the one drift sack on one side and a rope tied to your fishing buddy on the other side, remember rules state one rod each or two rods each if yer on the big lake it dosnt make mention that the other person who owns the rod has to be INSIDE the boat *grin*
